If we trace the formative years of any entrepreneur, though there may be signs, it’s often not obvious how early experiences shape the future business leader. Of course you say; that’s one of the reasons life is an adventure. You never know where the next “big idea” might come from nor from who.
So when I discovered that The Settlers of Catan—one of my family’s favorite board games—was invented by a dental technician, I got a big kick out of searching Google for more details.
In fact, in 2014, The New Yorker printed an article about him. It explains that, in the 1980s, Klaus Teuber was unhappy with his life as the owner of a small laboratory on the outskirts of Darmstadt, Germany but he also had a hobby that fascinated him: designing elaborate board games...
