Great article! I would like to add 3 common sense techniques we use in our lab to cut down on the production of dust.

1. Use damp paper towels to wipe down work benches and counter tops when cleaning up around the lab.
   
2. soak casting rings in water before devesting
   
   3.run hvac motor in the "on" position rather than "auto" during spring and fall when the fan tends to run less because of the moderate temps. This allows fan to run continuously and therefore filter more dust from the air. You have to be using a filter for this to be any help. We use 3M Filtrete high efficiency pleated paper filters in our system. They work much better than ordinary fiberglass filters.
