Adapt or die! Everything I knew when I arrived in the USA 19 years ago is now new. The age of digital technology have arrived. The only advantage is that having waxed crowns by hand have taught old school techs proper anatomy and function. Digital designing technology is a great tool for an experienced technician. Any small lab like mine can not compete with big labs on price, even having the best CAD-CAM equipment. I found however that as experienced technicians retire there is an even bigger demand from prosthodontists for educated/experienced technicians that can trouble shoot and find solutions for the complex cases that they do. That is for now my nitch.
I admire Jim Glidewell for so many things, but I will have to say the thing I most admire is how he has changed the dental industry for the better!
