Letters to the Editor: Raise the Quality of Our Work and the Presentation
Dear LMT,
I loved the October Publisher’s Page, “Water, Water Everywhere…And Yet” and the race to the bottom comment! This is exactly one of the reasons we started DTG (Dental Technicians Guild): to combat the downward trend of the U.S. dental lab industry. We connect with other like-minded technicians who want to raise the bar for education, technique sharing and business marketing.
The Publisher’s Page asks: “So what are we going to do to turn things around? There are no black and white solutions but high on the list are… .” I’d like to add to your list: Raise the quality of our work and the presentation of it.
This is a huge theme of the DTG members; we believe most technicians, if they choose, are capable of producing work of a much better quality than they do now. And that higher quality of work is what earns us doctors’ respect and the pay that goes with it.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve photographed hundreds of cases from my daily production work as have most DTG members. We’ve documented thousands of units. We demonstrate quality, not just talk about it, and we share how we got the results and encourage others who want to do the same. Click on some of the examples to the right.
If you’re interested in getting involved in DTG, you can contact us through Facebook.
