Letters to the Editor: Mark Your Calendar for Krakdent in Krakow
Dear LMT,
For the past 15 years, I’ve been attending Krakdent, a trade show in Kraków, Poland. It’s a wonderful event I think U.S. laboratory owners and managers should know about.
In 2016, Krakdent will be held March 10-12. The show is very well organized and getting so popular that it outgrew its previous location and is now being held at a much larger, modern facility, the International Fair and Congress Center Expo Kraków. Last year, about 14,000 dentists and technicians from all over the world attended.
In addition to more than 330 exhibitors from 17 different countries, the show features an extensive seminar program and world-class experts in almost every aspect of dentistry. Each year on Saturday, there is a prized event, Dental Spaghetti—it’s called that because originally, all the lecturers were from Italy—and it offers very high-end seminars on restorative dentistry.
The show is accompanied by a charity event, Dentopomoc, in which exhibitors donate dental supplies to help provide children in need with proper dental care.
An added bonus: the show provides a great opportunity to travel to central Europe. Kraków is a beautiful town; it’s 1,000 years old and wasn’t damaged during WWII. There are many gorgeous churches, the Wawel Royal Castle and the oldest synagogue in Poland. You can get delicious food and fine, hand-crafted gifts all over the city.
Thirty minutes from the center of town are the Wieliczka and Bochnia Royal Salt Mines. They have hundreds of miles of art galleries, underground chapels and statues sculpted in the salt. There’s nothing else like it in world!
Poland is very welcoming to Americans and lots of young people speak English. The exchange rate for Polish currency, Zloty, is very good right now; it’s 4 to 1, meaning compared to the U.S. everything costs four times less. It’s an incredible opportunity!
All in all, attending Krakdent makes for a great, tax-deductible, economical, educational trip! If you’d like more information or help with reservations, please email me at [email protected] or contact the show sponsor, Agnieszka Otwinowska of Targi w Krakowie Ltd, at [email protected].
I hope to see you there in March!
