“Many women continue to influence who I am today. However, one women in particular stands out.
Kamila Siekierski and I became instant friends ever since we were introduced by Judy Fishman, President of LMT Magazine, at LAB DAY East in New York City several years ago. Even though Kamilla’s story is unique, it is Kamilla herself who is one of the most inspiring women I know.
Kamilla came to the United States from Poland with her three-year old daughter in 1963. Earlier, she completed dental technology studies in Krakow and gained significant experience in dental laboratories and offices in Poland. When she arrived in the U.S. it was natural to look for work in her profession. Despite the fact that she did not speak a word of English, Kamilla secured employment in a dental laboratory only seven days after arriving in the U.S. Dental laboratory technology, being such a universal profession, enabled her to perform this line of work anywhere in the world.
