The son of a lab owner and a 2008 graduate of NYCCT’s Restorative Dentistry program, Jeffry Tobon, CDT, always had a passion for digital dentistry. After working for various laboratories throughout the New York metro area, Tobon decided to start his own business, DesignLab Dental in Westbury, NY, offering CAD design services to labs and dentists.


While troubleshooting technical issues for his clients, Tobon recognized a need for more CAD/CAM-based training. His initial foray into continuing education was to offer small, once-a-month classes on CAD design for technicians and dentists in his lab.


Building on that concept and its success, he teamed up with friend Sander Polanco, MDT, Owner, FMR Prosthetic Center, Staten Island, NY, to start Digital Dental Craftsmen, a membership-based, online platform that offers CAD/CAM-specific education. The two spent a year building the website and enlisting industry friends from around the world to help teach the courses.
