“As a technician, I’m a machinist, an engineer, an artist—dental technology is made up of so many different professions, that’s what keeps me interested,” says Jake Huot, Manager at GCD Dental Laboratory in Colorado, a full-service lab with locations in Broomfield and Englewood, CO. “I get to produce restorations that restore proper function and allow patients to eat healthy again.”

Huot believes in incorporating service into his life and career and strives to give back outside the laboratory as well. So, in his spare time, he volunteers to help the underserved at a youth shelter and is working to expand a health clinic in his area to offer cleanings, extractions and restorations.

In the future, Huot hopes to establish a training center to teach people in underserved populations how to operate a mill so they can go on to become CAM technicians or machinists.
