“I’m a technology guy. I get excited about experimenting with new software, pushing the envelope and finally getting it to the point where it works effectively,” says Charles Banh. He applied his love of technology at Anatomage and Biomet 3i where he gained extensive knowledge of implants, cone beam CT and guided surgery before joining Ceramics West Dental Lab in Portland, OR, owned by his wife’s family, in 2016.

As the head of the 10-person lab’s implant department, he’s responsible for overseeing production and developing the lab’s new niche market: full-arch implant cases. He divides his time equally between assisting chairside with treatment planning and surgeries and working at the bench. “I get to experience the best of both worlds: the rewards of interacting directly with patients and the satisfaction and craftsmanship of fabricating complex, full-arch cases,” says Banh.
