A Decade Later, NADL Survey Shows Shift in Regulation Views

In the fall, 10 years after the NADL last conducted a nationwide survey of the dental lab industry about state regulation, it reached out again to take the pulse on issues such as lab certification, and material and point of origin disclosure. The goal was to see how opinions aligned with the objectives of the NADL’s What’s In Your Mouth?, a public awareness campaign established in 2013 to promote the role of the dental technician as a valuable member of the dental restorative team.
Similar to the 2009 survey, the 2019 NADL Advocacy Survey was sent out to dental labs nationwide and, of the 682 respondents, 63% are NADL members and 37% are non-members*. A comparison of the two surveys shows a shift in favor of regulation over the past decade:
