2016 Wage Survey Reveals Mixed Market

The Labor Department’s July jobs report offered positive news: 255,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy in that month, surpassing economists’ expectations. It was the second consecutive month of robust hiring and rising wages nationwide, which were up 2.6% over the past 12 months.
Likewise, LMT’s 2016 Wage Survey offers some optimistic data, with 68% of owner/manager respondents giving their employees raises last year: 37% gave raises to all of their employees and 31% gave raises to some of their employees. On average, these respondents boosted their technicians’ pay by $1.36 per hour and two-thirds of them also gave annual bonuses, averaging about $1,000 per employee.
