Why can’t I hit the patient’s shade every time? It could be that your artistry is not failing but the selection of the restorative material is! All restorative materials like zirconia, milled or pressed disilicate or porcelain crown material has a unique opacity and translucency matrix that must push out and refract light similar to a natural tooth. These properties must be in harmony with the core framework to highlight the needed result for each individual patient. Learn and understand how different framework materials influence the final shade outcome and how you can adjust certain material properties to mask undesired outcomes due to lack of internal light and color.
Objectives:
- Material selection according to desired result
- Adjusting opacity and translucency
- How to mask out what you don’t want to see
- Understanding contrast
