Nurture New Dentists with a Unique Training Experience

For the last 15 years, we’ve worked with the Crown Council, a dental network, to co-sponsor a Young Dentist Program, an educational course aimed at nurturing dentists who have been out of school for less than five years. Held during three weekends over eight months, attendees receive training in smile design, occlusion, prep design, cementation and materials from Dr. David Hornbrook, our lab’s Director of Education.

On the first weekend, each attendee can present a challenging case for a patient in need—we try to stick to single-arch cases that can be done in our timeframe—then each case is discussed and treatment-planned by the group. Next, they vote to select one case to be fabricated and the next two sessions feature Dr. Hornbrook lecturing and interacting with the group while Dr. Chase Larsen—a graduate of the program—preps and seats the restoration while attendees observe.
