Product Launch: Stratasys Expands Portfolio with Wax Printers
At LAB DAY West, Stratasys unveiled the...See more new high-precision CrownWorx and FrameWorx 3D Printers, which use wax deposition modeling technology to produce automated waxups in a high resolution of 5,000 x 5,000 x 8,000 dpi for superior fit and finish.
The CrownWorx printer jets micro-drops of TrueCast, a firm but flexible wax-like material, to build crown, bridge and coping waxups. The FrameWorx printer uses a combination of jetting and spraying methods: it jets TrueCast onto the build tray to create a partial denture waxup, and then quickly sprays TrueSupport wax-blend material around the casting material to form a support structure, a process that enhances production speed; after printing, TrueSupport is dissolved.
The completed waxups have a smooth surface that minimizes finishing, and the TrueCast material then burns out with no residue, shrinkage, cracking or expansion. The CrownWorx printer costs approximately $23,000, and the FrameWorx is approximately $32,000.
"These printers are an ideal fit for small labs interested in upgrading casting technology. They will allow dental labs to digitize their workflows, reduce costs and produce restorations more efficiently," said Avi Cohen, Director of Global Dental, at the show.
"The printers complement our broad system portfolio. Including this launch, Stratasys has introduced three new printers and three new materials for laboratories in the first half of 2014 alone; we believe that demonstrates our commitment to this industry."
