If possible I would like to query the tech interested to find a sentiment on the electronic case submission.
There are currently 3 different modes of thought in the dental lab industry in terms of submitting cases over the web and we get a wide variance in feedback. So I open it up to the professionals that are interacting with dentists every day:
Which mode of thought do you relate to and why?
Case submission over the web is amazing and we couldn't do this level of production without it. Admin and case entry staff can handle a larger volume. Remakes are lower due to clearer more complete prescriptions and we see an influx of new, younger dentists every year. I wouldn't change a thing.
I have heard of electronic case submission, but don't know of the benefits and don't know what value proposition I can offer my dentists. I do like the fact that they can look up and print their own invoices and statements without having to call the lab.
Case submission over the web is confusing and I don't know any other labs using it. I don't see why dentists would want to use it and most of them aren't interested. It adds a barrier to communication to the business relationship rather than promoting it. I don't understand how it works.
With this feedback we can get a better idea of where the industry is in terms of adoption for new technology in terms of laboratory management. I leave you with the Daily Bite conveniently provided in the sidebar while I was writing this up:
35% of laboratories say business was up in 2011, due to marketing and customer service efforts and increased efficiency through digital technologies.
