Ivoclar Vivadent received the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) 2013 Celebration of Excellence Award for Outstanding Innovation in Cosmetic Dentistry for its work with the IPS e.max lithium disilicate product line. Presented during the AACD's annual meeting held last month in Seattle, WA, the award was accepted by George Tysowsky, DDS, MPH, Vice President of Technology, in recognition of Ivoclar Vivadent's impact, improvement, and advancement in the field of cosmetic and restorative dentistry through its IPS e.max restorative system.
"This is a tremendous honor," commented Robert A. Ganley, CEO of Ivoclar Vivadent. "We all know that IPS e.max is a game changer, but sharing center stage with the Academy and its members during the annual session validates the impact of our innovation. I am so proud of our people and products."
Today, IPS e.max is the leading all-ceramic material used in dentistry, with more than 40 million restorations placed worldwide to date. A lithium disilicate glass ceramic optimized for translucency, durability, and strong full anatomical restorations, IPS e.max demonstrates the opalescence and light diffusion properties that replicate natural tooth structure for beautiful and undetectable restorations.
When fabricated to full-contour, the monolithic structure provides an extremely robust restoration, and the material exhibits superior durability of 360-400 MPa of flexural strength. IPS e.max is supported by more than 10 years of clinical research and evidence that demonstrates its durability and 98.2% crown survival rate.
