In our April 1999 issue, we covered Dick Pilsner, CDT's revolutionary decision to build a daycare center...See more at D&S Dental Laboratory in Waunakee, WI. The daycare, which was open to both employees and non-employees, quickly earned a reputation in the area and eventually grew to 180 kids. The daycare has since been sold off; however, D&S employees' children get priority for placement and the laboratory still subsidizes childcare expenses.
Coming in our June/July issue, we revisit D&S Dental Laboratory to hear about its latest undertaking: a growth strategy focused on acquisitions. Get an inside look at the lab's recent purchase of Hootman Dental Laboratory; watch for the issue in mid-June or check back for the full story here on The Bridge.
In the Scrapbook of the Century in LMT's November/December 1999 issue, Fred Howard shared this photo...See more of the third annual Durallium Get-Together in February 1941 in Chicago. Note that his wife is the only woman in the photograph. Following the meeting, the Durallium bulletin printed, "It was really wonderful to have the presence of this young lady...and she has the distinction and the honor of being the first and only member of her sex to grace our festivities. Fred Howard is certainly lucky to have this wonderful partner both in business and in life and from the manner in which she took everything in at the convention and at the MidWinter clinic, she is most certainly all business."
April 1991: The 1st Annual LAB DAY West
In 1991, seven years after the founding of LAB DAY Chicago,...See more LMT took the show on the road to sunny southern California. More than 800 laboratory product buyers attended our first LAB DAY West, which featured 75 exhibitors and clinics sponsored by a dozen different companies.
And my, how it's grown: this weekend, we celebrate our 24th annual LAB DAY West with 140 exhibitors on Saturday and 150+ hours of concurrent CE courses held on Friday and Saturday. Hope to see you at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove!
According to LMT’s 2013 Dentist Survey, only 26% of survey participants say price was a factor the last time they switched laboratories.
