In 2016, Gerald (Jerry) Gaubert, Implant Specialist at AvaDent, celebrated his 40th year as a Certified Dental Technician.
Jerry, who is certified in both Complete Dentures and Partial Dentures, received his training as a Dental Laboratory Technologist while in the Air Force in Louisiana. Following his military career, Jerry worked for several years in an in-house Prosthodontic Lab as a well as large lab in Dallas where, representing the only Branemark-certified lab at the time, he conducted courses to train doctors on implants.
Jerry also authored a chapter in the book, “Complete Dentures.” In the mid-80’s, Jerry was recruited by the VA Hospital in Dallas to help start its implant work and eventually was transferred to the VA Central Lab where he worked with VA Hospitals on a national level. Retiring from the VA, Jerry worked with Clear Choice and a large lab in Dallas where he focused on conversions and treatment plans.
Jerry joined the AvaDent team...
"Russellville Dental Lab, LLC (RDL) is excited to be celebrating 60 years. We're a generational lab beginning with the Grandfather of Managing Partner Lee Coursey and Father of Partner Kevin Coursey (David and Danny Coursey). Our lab has grown from its roots as primarily a regional denture laboratory to include fixed restorations and then implant restorations as early as the 1980s. The last 10 years have seen phenomenal growth as our nationwide presence in the implant market has grown." RDL
Although Friendship Dental Laboratories, Inc.'s first case was fabricated in 1973, it wasn't until 2006 that it implemented the efficient, computerized tracking system by Labtrac. This October, it logged in its half-millionth case!

LMT wants to know if you or your laboratory just celebrated a big milestone. Tell us about your lab's 50th anniversary or how you just hit 30 years as a CDT... any big milestone, we want to hear about it!
This summer, Facebook made changes to its news feed algorithm, giving priority to content from users’ friends and families over business pages. Companies in every industry have noticed a big decline in organic reach—or how many of your followers your content actually reaches—and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get seen without paying to sponsor posts.
The good news is there are things you can do to help increase your organic reach without shelling out any money. Speaking from experience, here are the four things I’ve noticed help get LMT’s posts seen by more people on Facebook:
#1: Post native video
Over the past few years, video has blown up on social media and has proven to generate lots of engagement. One of our most popular Facebook posts was a video, reaching over 14,000 people with 72 shares! Facebook’s algorithm favors native video—or videos uploaded on the Facebook platform—which is why I recommend doing this instead...

Thanks for your help in spreading the gratitude around our community!
When creating the social media content here at LMT, I’m always looking for eye-catching graphics to accompany my posts. I’m far from a graphic designer, which is why I lean on a few online-based graphic design tools. These tools also take away the guesswork of figuring out what size to make your graphics since every social media network has image size guidelines you should follow so your image will look its best in the news feed, timeline or stream.
Here are my three favorite design tools that are not only really easy to use, but also free!
Canva is my go-to website for most of my social media graphic needs. Whether I’m creating an infographic after one of our LAB DAY shows or posting about an article, it helps me make professional looking graphics in a snap!
One thing I really like about Canva is that it uses a drag and drop interface, making it perfect for people who don’t have a ton of graphic design experience. It also offers hundreds of beautiful layouts...

Mount Vernon, NY
Owner: Andrea Tintrup
When Frank Tintrup, Jr., Owner of family-owned Tintrup Dental Lab in Mount Vernon, NY, passed away at the end of 2000 from pancreatic cancer, no one expected his wife Andrea Tintrup to step up the way she did. Without any previous laboratory experience, she walked into the lab in January 2001, called a staff meeting and ensured the staff that she was going to work her hardest to make sure everyone kept their jobs and could cash their paychecks every Friday. She has been keeping that promise for the last 14 years.
Despite her personal tragedy and the challenges of running a business, Tintrup has never waivered from her commitment to her team. Whether it’s bringing in home-cooked meals for the technicians, buying glasses for an employee who needed them, or always promoting from within, she knows the importance of taking care of her own. “I’m 110% devoted to this 75-year-old laboratory and am very proud it bears my family...

President: Laura Kelly, AAACD
Laura Kelly, President of LK Dental Studio in San Ramon, CA, is a member of an elite group and wants her technicians to join her. One of the only 42 American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD)-accredited technicians in the world and former President of the organization, she strongly encourages her 12 technicians to further their education and become involved in the AACD, the largest international organization of dentists, technicians, auxiliaries and educators dedicated specifically to cosmetic dentistry.
Two of her employees are already involved in the organization: Rocksand Grogan plans to pursue the accreditation process and Dave Stohlman has completed the written exam and is now a sustaining member. LK Dental Studio paid for Stohlman to take the exam and continues to support him as he progresses through the clinical case portion of the accreditation process by giving him time during his workday to work on cases. He has...
Owner: Jerry Kaizer
While some labs tout a fancy facility or robust benefits package, there’s one thing Murray Kaizer Dental Laboratory has that others simply can’t match: Owner Jerry Kaizer.
“Jerry is half parent, half boss,” says Sabrina Janco, a Sales Representative at the lab who’s known Kaizer since 1977. “He looks out for the best interest of the company as well as his ‘kids,’ striving to teach us how not only to be great technicians and employees, but good people.” Considered a father figure by many, Kaizer—who calls his employees the “next generation of the Murray Kaizer family”—goes above and beyond to help his staff. One employee who was struggling with his weight confided in him that he wanted to get healthy but didn’t know where to start. So, in lieu of giving him a yearly raise, Kaizer bought him a year-long gym membership plus a year’s worth of personal training....

Between 1986 and 2001, seven dental schools closed their doors. However, in the past several years, that trend has reversed: To meet the growing demand for careers in dentistry, seven new predoctoral dental programs opened in the U.S. since 2011, bringing the total number of active schools to 65. Add to that the fact that several existing schools* are investing in and/or expanding their facilities or programs and it's clear: dental education is booming.
The above map shows the new dental schools opened in the past two years.
*These dental schools have either recently expanded their enrollment and/or facilities or are in the process of doing so: University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, Chapel Hill, NC; University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, San Francisco, CA; Marquette University School of Dentistry, Milwaukee, WI; Georgia Health Sciences University College of Dental Medicine, Augusta, GA; University of Louisville School of Dentistry, Louisville, KY;...
