In 2016, Gerald (Jerry) Gaubert, Implant Specialist at AvaDent, celebrated his 40th year as a Certified Dental Technician.
Jerry, who is certified in both Complete Dentures and Partial Dentures, received his training as a Dental Laboratory Technologist while in the Air Force in Louisiana. Following his military career, Jerry worked for several years in an in-house Prosthodontic Lab as a well as large lab in Dallas where, representing the only Branemark-certified lab at the time, he conducted courses to train doctors on implants.
Jerry also authored a chapter in the book, “Complete Dentures.” In the mid-80’s, Jerry was recruited by the VA Hospital in Dallas to help start its implant work and eventually was transferred to the VA Central Lab where he worked with VA Hospitals on a national level. Retiring from the VA, Jerry worked with Clear Choice and a large lab in Dallas where he focused on conversions and treatment plans.
Jerry joined the AvaDent team...
Gregory M. Thayer, CDT, FICOI, established Thayer Dental Laboratory as a crown and bridge specialty laboratory in 1976. By 1983 the business was recognized by INC. Magazine as part of the INC. 500. In an effort to augment its organic growth, Thayer Dental Laboratory acquired a few smaller laboratories to acquire both skilled technicians and new customers. The laboratory has been Nationally Certified since 1985 with eight Certified Dental Technicians and one Master Dental Technician on staff.
The laboratory’s current location in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is the result of a custom design and build project that resulted in a 12,000 square foot, full service laboratory. This state-of-the-art facility continues to serve the dental profession with leading-edge technologies including an array of digital scanning, CAD/CAM printing and milling systems.
In the 40 years since Thayer Dental Laboratory began, everything has changed except Greg’s desire to service the hell out of the customers...

Periodically, my staff and I have a swap meet in our company lounge. Mostly we bring in clothes we no longer want; whatever no one else wants, we donate.
In past years I didn’t participate much; I happily alternate between wearing something from 20 years ago with wearing something new. This year, however, I made a resolution to “declutter” so I brought in a boatload of tops and shoes.
Interestingly, I was acutely aware of how difficult it was for me to let go of things that still technically fit and were in good shape while noting that other staff members gleefully unloaded their stuff (that also still fit) and were quite happy to be thinning their wardrobes.
Psychologists and organizing experts say holding onto material things is “emotional baggage standing in our way.” They’ll tell you that our organizational style is a metaphor for how we conduct our lives; that holding on holds us back; that decluttering will help bring calm and serenity to our...

This summer, Facebook made changes to its news feed algorithm, giving priority to content from users’ friends and families over business pages. Companies in every industry have noticed a big decline in organic reach—or how many of your followers your content actually reaches—and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get seen without paying to sponsor posts.
The good news is there are things you can do to help increase your organic reach without shelling out any money. Speaking from experience, here are the four things I’ve noticed help get LMT’s posts seen by more people on Facebook:
#1: Post native video
Over the past few years, video has blown up on social media and has proven to generate lots of engagement. One of our most popular Facebook posts was a video, reaching over 14,000 people with 72 shares! Facebook’s algorithm favors native video—or videos uploaded on the Facebook platform—which is why I recommend doing this instead...
